Visit to Sumatra- Indonesia Tour
His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima paid a state visit to the Republic of Indonesia at the invitation of President Joko Widodo. The visit took place from Tuesday 10 to Friday 13 March, 2020. The Royal Couple visited the cities of Jakarta and Yogyakarta on Java and the islands of Kalimantan and Sumatra. The state visit was an affirmation of the broad and close relationship between the two countries and is dedicated to future cooperation. Among other things, attention is paid to the economy, nature conservation, culture and science and the many links that exist, among other things, on the basis of the shared past, between Indonesians and Dutch people. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are accompanied during their visit by Minister Blok of Foreign Affairs. For the second part, their third day in Indonesia, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima traveled by boat to Samosir Island in the middle of the lake, and there, they visited Silima Lombu ecovillage, built to show the local community the potential of sustainable tourism and small-scale organic farming
