Jordan River Foundation ShowRoom 2017







That was the lunch of 22nd  edition of the Jordan River Foundation’s annual handicrafts exhibition, titled “Vintage Dreams.” The exhibition showcased the Foundation’s latest collections of traditional and contemporary handicrafts. All items on display were created by women from local communities, under JRF’s projects, Bani Hamidah Designs, Jordan River Designs, and Wadi Rayan Designs. Drawing inspiration from olive trees, pomegranates, and urban and Bedouin symbolism, and reflected local traditions across a selection of home furnishings, special gift items, and fashion accessories. Her Majesty toured the exhibition in the company of JRF Director General Enaam Barrishi, as well as members of the JRF Board of Trustees and friends and supporters of the Foundation. JRF projects have empowered more than 2,500 beneficiaries to date, providing local women with technical and entrepreneurial training to help them provide for their families.

  Queen Maxima paid a working visit to a Parnassia Group Mental Health Facility in The Hague. The visit focused on the possible impact of the corona pandemic on mental health care, focusing on both current problems and opportunities and new developments. Design Institute Amman in March 2017

Her Majesty Queen Rania on Monday visited the Design Institute Amman (DIA) in support of Jordan’s design industry and met with designers enrolled in its courses and workshops.  The Queen was welcomed by the Founding Director of the institute, Randa Jabaji, who gave her a tour of some of the facility’s workshops and classrooms, according to a statement from Her Majesty’s office.  Queen Rania participated in a discussion with 16 designers, moderated by Jabaji and Amman Design Week co-director Abeer Seikaly.  The debate focused on the status of design education in Jordan, the need to increase awareness about the sector and collaboration between the DIA and the Amman Design Week team.   Her Majesty’s first stop was the institute’s Jewellery Lab, a space dedicated to classes and workshops on the art of jewellery making and design, she  also met with students from the institute’s graphic design classroom, where the introductory-level graphic design programme is taught and  participated in a
