The international Girls’ Day 2020 event

  Crown Princess Mary of Denmark marks the United Nations International Girls’ Day at Nærum Gymnasium (high school) on 7 October 2020 in Nærum, Denmark. The International Day of the Girl Child is an initiative by the United Nations. The goal is to raise awareness about issues that girls around the world have to face on a daily basis because of their gender. With her knowledge, insight and commitment Crown Princess Mary is an important asset for women and girls around the world. She clearly showed that by participating yesterdays event in Nærum.  The Crown Princess engaged in virtual conversations with girls Faridah and Lidya from Uganda and Ethiopia, who talked about how the closure of school due to the COVID-19 pandemic affected their lives, making their future uncertain. Faridah and Lidya also explained what COVID19 and school closures has ment for girls and young women. A lack of security and a higher risk of sexual assault, violence, early marriages and teenage pregnancies. Crown

World Mental Health Day at Derby University

  The Duchess of Cambridge visited students at the  University of Derby  to hear how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted university life, and what national measures have been put in place to support student mental health.  The Duchess spoke with first-year students, sports societies and nursing students about the ways in which the University is supporting their well-being, including Student Mind's Student Space, a new resource created to support student.

Vocational training courses is the professional studies closest to the reality of the labor market and responds to the need for qualified personnel specialized in the different professional sectors. The engagement was  held at the Integrated Vocational Training Center "CIFP Politécnico de Santiago".

The 2020-2021 season of Teatro Real

Un Ballo in Maschera was directed by Gianmaria Aliverta and performed in Italian. The plot is loosely based on the assassination of King Gustav III of Sweden, who was shot as the result of a political conspiracy while attending a masked ball in 1792, he died from his wounds thirteen days later.  The King and Queen of Spain attended the premiere.    After the performance, Their Majesties had the opportunity to meet with members of the cast and crew.

A working meeting with the Spanish Mental Health Confederation was held in Madrid. The Mental Health Confederation is a non-profit organization founded in 1983. Its  mission is to promote the adoption of measures that contribute to improving the quality of life of people with mental disorders and their families, defend their rights and represent the movement created around mental health.

BBVA Microfinance Foundation -September 28, 2020

  The Queen of Spain chaired the BBVA Microfinance Foundation's event to give visibility to the efforts of women during the pandemic in Madrid.  BBVA Microfinance Foundation held the event 'Tireless women: Challenges and achievements to reinvent themselves in times of crisis', to recognise the work of Latin American entrepreneurs in the face of the economic impact of the health crisis and the important role of technology. She  was informed of  the activities and projects of the Foundation to fight against poverty, offering people who do not have access to the conventional financial system to obtain resources to undertake productive activities and improve their quality of life.
