The Duke and Duchess travelled further south to visit the historic market and mill town of Batley in West Yorkshire and the final stop of the day was in Manchester where they paid tribute to volunteers at FairShare. The organisation is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, with the aim of fighting hunger and food waste by redistributing good quality in-date surplus food to frontline charities across the UK. Following the warehouse tour, The Duke and Duchess watched a special performance by Wayne Ellington and Manchester Inspirational Voices, presented by Band on the Wall, a local independent music venue which has been supported during COVID-19 by the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund.

The visit focused on the possible impact of the corona pandemic on mental health care, focusing on both current problems and opportunities and new developments. Design Institute Amman in March 2017

Her Majesty Queen Rania on Monday visited the Design Institute Amman (DIA) in support of Jordan’s design industry and met with designers enrolled in its courses and workshops.  The Queen was welcomed by the Founding Director of the institute, Randa Jabaji, who gave her a tour of some of the facility’s workshops and classrooms, according to a statement from Her Majesty’s office.  Queen Rania participated in a discussion with 16 designers, moderated by Jabaji and Amman Design Week co-director Abeer Seikaly.  The debate focused on the status of design education in Jordan, the need to increase awareness about the sector and collaboration between the DIA and the Amman Design Week team.   Her Majesty’s first stop was the institute’s Jewellery Lab, a space dedicated to classes and workshops on the art of jewellery making and design, she  also met with students from the institute’s graphic design classroom, where the introductory-level graphic design programme is taught and  participated in a
