Son Roca in Palma

  King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, accompanied by their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, visited the Naüm Socio-Educational project in Son Roca neighborhood in Palma. The project (Proyecto socioeducativo Naüm) gives support and assistance to 216 vulnerable families in the neighbourhoods of Son Roca, Son Ximelis, Son Anglada, Son Serra and La Vileta.  The Naüm Socio-Educational Project was started in 2000 by the congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, to fulfil needs identified in these neighborhoods.  The president of the Balearic Government, Francina Armengol, the Minister of Education and Professional Training, Isabel Celaá, as well as the Minister of Social Affairs and Sports, Fina Santiago and the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Catalina Cladera, accompanied the Royal Family during their visit.

Municipality of Petra Visit

  In Petra,   municipality  on the Mediterranean island of  Majorca , Their Majesties, accompanied by Leonor, Princess of Asturias, and Infanta Sofia visit the birthplace, museum and convent  - emblematic of the life and work of Saint Junípero Serra Ferrer, an 18th-century Franciscan friar, founder of missions in America, beatified in 1988 by Pope John Paul the Second and canonized in 2015 by Pope Francis.  The royals toured the Family House (birthplace) located on Barracar Alt Street in the municipality of Petra. 

Santiago de Compostela

The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is the reputed burial place of the biblical apostle Saint James the Great, and the destination for those following the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route. On the 25th of July, Galicia celebrates its national holiday, the date is dedicated to Saint James the Great, patron saint of both Spain and Galicia. Their Majesties presided over the National Offering to the Apostle Santiago (Saint James the Great) at the monastery of San Martiño Pinario. The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is historically the epicentre of festivities but is currently undergoing restoration. The mass began with a reading of the Gospel, during the liturgy His Majesty presented the Offering to the Apostle Santiago. Autonomous Communities- Gijón

  ​Their Majesties first activity of the day was a visit to the headquarters of COGERSA (Consortium for Solid Waste Management of Asturias) which recycles all waste from all over Asturias, it employs more than 400 workers, a total of 800,000 tons per year is recycled throughout the plant: domestic, commercial, industrial and hospital waste. After, they  travelled to Cerro de Santa Catalina a park in Gijón, where they saw the 30th-anniversary exhibition of the Elogio del Horizonte (Praise of the Horizon) sculpture by Eduardo Chillida. They received explanations from the director of the Culture Foundation and through a series of photographs and texts Their Majesties were able to see how the construction of Chillida's work was carried out. The Royal Couple moved to the upper part of the viewpoint where they held a meeting with a representation of health workers from the Hospital de Cabueñes, COVID-19 reference centre in Gijón. National Livestock Market

  King and Queen first activity of the day was a visit to the National Cattle Market 'Jesús Collado Soto' in Torrelavega where they were welcomed with a traditional dance of western Cantabria, the 'Jota Montañesa'.The Royal Couple received a guided tour of the premises by the director of the National Cattle Market and the Market's commercial advisor. After, They moved to the Puerto de Santoña (Port of Santoña) for a guided tour from the president of the Federation of Fishermen's Guilds of Cantabria and president of the 'Virgen del Puerto' Fishermen's Guild of Santoña. Their Majesties observed the work of a group of women 'rederas' who were repairing nets, they then boarded a fishing boat and were informed of its activity by the boat's skipper.
