Day 2 - Spanish Royals Visit Andorra

In Ordino, Andorra, The two day trip marks the first visit to Andorra since King Felipe's enthronement and is also the first foreign trip since the begin of the Coronavirus pandemic.  Their day began with a visit to the María Moline Spanish School, which is one of the six Spanish public schools in the principality. After, Their Majesties held a meeting with the Spanish educational community in Andorra, where they were able to talk with the directors of the centres of the Spanish system present in Andorra.  King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia moved to the Church of Santa Coloma and the adjacent 'Espai Columba' museum. The Church of Santa Coloma is Andorra's oldest church, dating to the pre-Romanesque period.  At noon, Their Majesties attended an official lunch offered by the Cap de Govern of Andorra in their honour, which was attended by the General Trustee, and the representatives of the Episcopal Co-Prince and the French Co-Prince.  Bringing the state visit to a close, th

Opening of the Iberdrola Campus

The King and Queen of Spain inaugurated the Iberdrola Innovation and Training Campus under the theme RETO (Challenge) 'Recovery, Energy, Transition and SDG' and delivered the Supplier of the Year Awards, at San Agustín del Guadalix, Madrid.  This year, the awards were organized under the theme RETO which means 'challenge' in Spanish and represents Recovery, Energy, Transition and SDG.  During the award ceremony, the King and Queen learned about various ground-breaking initiatives in the fields of new technologies, biodiversity, smart solutions and training.

"Women and Internationalization" event

  The presentation  of the Report of the "Women and Internationalization" Working Group, called "On the role of women in the Internationalization Strategy of the Spanish Economy 2017-2027"  took place at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism (MINCOTUR) in Madrid. It  was prepared within the framework of the II Plan of Action to Support Internationalization and within the Internationalization Strategy of the Spanish Economy 2017-2027. The Working Group is made up of administrations from university institutions and the business sector and it aims to identify problems and find joint solutions.

The Navintia shipyard

  King Felipe and Queen Letizia, accompanied by Crown Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, attended the launching ceremony of submarine S-81 "Isaac Peral", the first of a series of four submarines that will enter service in the Spanish Navy in the coming years. The official ceremony was broadcasted live. The Royal Family also toured the facilities of Spanish company Navantia's shipyard in  Cartagena.

Cervantes Institute Visit in Alcala

  The King and Queen of Spain presided over acts of celebration on World Book Day at the headquarters of the Instituto Cervantes in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), the hometown of Miguel de Cervantes.  After the initial greetings, the King and Queen moved to the central patio where readings were read and a video was screened of the poet Francisco Brines Bañó, Miguel de Cervantes 2020 prize winner, reading a poem. Their Majesties saw the exhibition 'Los Libros de Jesús Munarriz' in the Patrimonial Library of the Cervantes Institute and unveiled a commemorative plaque marking their visit. Before leaving they conversed with guests; including authors and editors.  The idea 'Book Day' originated from Spanish writer Vicente Clavel Andrés as a way to honour Miguel de Cervantes (author of Don Quixote), first on the 7th of October, his birth date, then on the 23rd of April, his death date.

VI Educational Congress of the Federación Española de Enfermedades Raras

  The conference is part of the CREDIBLE project, which seeks to share good practices among teachers from different European countries so that they have the tools with which to improve socio-educational attention. During the round table families and the national and international educational community transferred the value of 'technological innovation' and the possibilities for the rural environment in educational inclusion for an individualised response to minors with rare and undiagnosed diseases.  Before leaving, Her Majesty toured some of the classrooms where she conversed with tutors, classmates and teachers, of students with rare diseases.
